Overview
On the left bank of the Seine, not far from the Eiffel Tower; tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood and hiding behind a classic façade, sits designer Christophe Pillet's dramatic and ultra-chic designer hotel.
Owner
Shahe Kalaidjian selected this informal spot for the hotel of his dreams.
History
Pillet has taken a former Best Western Hotel in the sleepy sixteenth arrondissement, away from the hustle and bustle of Paris, and turned it into a style-seeker's address. Visually striking and unconventional, Hotel Sezz blends into its surroundings with a classic-looking façade. The inside, however, is sleek, modern and pristine.
Features
The furnishings and décor are impossibly chic, with a colour palette of oranges, greens and reds. Pillet's personal touches include a sleek, firm sofa, desk with a mock-croc chair and a lozenge-like coffee table laden with art books. Each guestroom is anchored by a floating bed located right in the centre of the space, calling to mind a mid-afternoon tryst rather than a midday meeting. The real erotic centrepiece, however, is the peek-a-boo bathroom: A glass wall separates the bed from the deluxe shower - so you definitely don't want to share the room with a colleague. The concept was not to create a total look, but a mis-match of style, and a spirit and taste to link them together.
Hotel Sezz is a member of Design Hotels.
