A large number of places of worship around Wales have been transformed over the years, but in the case of this chapel in the Vale of Glamorgan, the end result has kept the simple homely virtues of the original.

Fact file

owners: Lee Jones and Ffion Elinor
location: Llysworney
style: Open, colourful and modern
best feature: The space created by the architect

The home has a fairly open design, with the downstairs area forming one big room. Ffion says “We’ve tried not to clutter our home, because we like the sense of space. By painting everything white we have created a tranquil area where it is easy to relax. I enjoy just sitting in front of the television – so we chose a large model.”

Upstairs there is a sitting area, where Lee likes to relax while reading his large collection of books, and two bedrooms. They are similar to one another, with a tall ceiling and enough room to store Ffion’s clothes, and both are ensuite.
