Robert was brought up on a farm on the Llyn Peninsula, and as a youngster he used to play in the old mill that stood on the family’s property. Now he’s hard at work renovating the building, turning it into a comfortable, luxurious home.

Fact file
owner: Robert David
location: Pwllheli
style: Only halfway there, but the project’s looking good
best feature: The stone…

No-one has lived here since the 50s – when Robert came here in the 60s the mill was only home to a clutch of hens. So there’s plenty of work to be done, and although the mill itself has stood the test of time it will be necessary to pull down the kiln and the house next door and start again. However, Robert will be re-using the lovely local stone as he rebuilds.

The plan is ambitious. There will be a kitchen and dining area downstairs in the mill, with an open-plan living space upstairs and a patio outside. A glass corridor will run down the side of the building and connect the mill with the re-built house, where the bedrooms will be.
