Michael Tree is no stranger to conservation projects, seeing as he was responsible for saving Trefor Hall, near Llangollen. But in trying to preserve Hendre House, a large mansion which dates back to around 1815, he has taken on a major commitment. Michael descibes the property as a mini-estate, where all the grounds are laid out symmetrically around the house – the property even contains a walled garden. No-one has lived here since the 1930s and so there is a lot of maintenance work to be done, starting with the roof. Although this is a tricky, time-consuming job, the outstanding views make it worthwhile!

Michael has a 5-year plan for the property, and the work of furnishing and decorating the house will not be complete until 2007.
