A residence has stood on this spot near Abergavenny for close on a thousand years, though most of Penyclawdd Court dates from the 16th Century. In addition to being home to the local landowners, the imposing building also served as their law-court. In the grounds nearby there's an old motte-and-bailey structure that dates back to Norman times.
