Set designer Lois Prys has an eye for colour and enjoys working with all kinds of fabrics. It’s no surprise then that what she has enjoyed most about the restoration work on her late Georgian home in Caernarfon is having a blank canvas to play with. “My husband and I could see its potential and could see ourselves living there. The location is great, there are no other houses in front of the house, and it appealed to us.”
The couple decided to follow specific themes. As Lois’s husband Grant is Australian, they decided to decorate the kitchen and living room on the ground floor in the earthy colours of the outback. “It’s worked well. The deep colours in the kitchen give it a warm feel, and this is where our friends tend to congregate.”
By keeping the few original features which remained in the house, Lois and Grant have succeeded in creating a welcoming house which combines Georgian simplicity with a modern comfort and warmth.
