Creating such a contemporary haven, designed to work for their own needs, took four years and an immense amount of dedication and forward planning.
Minimalism reigns, reflecting a pretty disciplined lifestyle with everything kept in its rightful place. The whole home is a grid-like structure of linear, customised storage, their only concession to curves is in the circular outside seating area. Their philosophy has created a design where form really does follow function.
Walls are kept white, furniture (always on legs) appear to float in mid-air creating a light and spacious interior out of what is essentially a dark and confined space.
The kitchen and bathroom are hard edged and designed for use rather than beauty, with plentiful use of concealed storage and flexible, modular units. The whole look is softened with the addition of leather chairs, textured wooden sofas and oversized digital family snapshots, creating a comfortable and practical family home.
