Overview
Named one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The g Hotel is located in the heart of Galway city. The relatively understated exterior, in a modern building with views, does little to prepare you for the treat that awaits within.
Owner
Galway property developer Gerry Barrett is the owner of Galway's The g Hotel, along with numerous other hotel properties across Ireland. He also has an extensive range of retail property holdings in Galway through his Monogram Hotels chain.
History
Douglas Wallace Architects collaborated with milliner Phillip Treacy to create a five-star hotel interior unlike anything seen before in Ireland. A native of Galway, Treacy's special touch is evident everywhere - from the bespoke concierge wall to the artwork in every room.
Features
Working in conjunction with Douglas Wallace, Phillip Treacy has brought together an eclectic mix of styles - from baroque to contemporary - to create an overall effect that seeks to surprise as well as to delight. The boldly contrasting interiors, blend classic traditional elements with amplified modern ones. It is the impression of glamour that Treacy most want to convey. Walking into the g hotel is like walking onto a film set.
Each bedroom is a haven of intimacy and sensuality and each one has the distinctive Philip Treacy touch, evident in the detail as well as in the overall effect - one of stylish originality and supreme comfort.
The rooms utilize materials and textures synonymous with a day at the shore, including conch shell pillows and white Frette linens. The colours, textures and materials used reflect this heritage and tradition, but are also effortlessly contemporary.
The g's ground floor has three individually styled and themed lounges and a restaurant, all linked by a raspberry carpeted corridor. It's akin to walking through an extravagant dolls house, with golden doorways framing the entrance to each room. Hotel features include Louis XVI-style chairs; glass and chrome furnishings and Venetian-plaster moulding
