3 Lle: Eric Jones

The mountaineer, Eric Jones' choice of three places are the hills of Clwyd, the mountains of Snowdonia and the icy peaks of the Alps.

The journey starts at Bryn Saith Marchog. This is where Eric's interest in motor bikes and parachute jumping began, activities that he is still enjoying nearly sixty years on!

In the Llanberis Pass we hear how Eric learnt to climb and how he started his solo climbing career. In the Grindelwad area of the Swiss Alps he re-lives one of his most astounding feats, conquering the north face of the Eiger without the aid of ropes. This is also where he made his first Base jump.

With such exciting memories it is hardly surprising that Kleine Scheidegg is one of the three places closest to his heart.
