3 Lle: Richard Harrington
In the first programme in the series, actor Richard Harrington visits three places of significance in his life - Merthyr Tydfil, La Gomera and Crystal Palace Park in London.
The actor, who played Defi Lewis in S4C's epic drama series Pen Talar has fond memories of his upbringing in the heart of the South Wales Valleys. In his teens, he left to pursue a career on stage and screen but Merthyr Tydfil is still important to him.
Richard Harrington explains, "There's a lot of history here. People have been through hell. But there's no time for dwelling on things in Merthyr. You've just got to get on with it. When I think of the place, I think of what could have been and how my life could have turned out. Who knows where I would have ended up if it weren't for my parents' decision to send me to a Welsh-language primary school."
It was the drama department at the bilingual comprehensive school Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen that sparked his interest in acting. Fast forward to the present day and Richard is a prominent figure on television in Wales and the United Kingdom.
During the programme, he reveals his affection for the language, his love of Wales and the town where he grew up. He also talks about the decision of moving back to Wales for the sakes of his sons, Ralff and Ned.
Richard also leads us abroad to discover the paradise of La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, and then to Crystal Palace Park in London where his children learnt to walk and he made the decision to return home to Wales.
