Go to Chez Dudley website Michael John is the second contestant to leave Chez Dudley, even though many of his fellow competitors had tipped the 19-year old from Porthmadog as their favourite to win the competition.
Although he made an impression on everyone with his enthusiasm and passion for food and cooking, Michelin Star chef René Bérard decidied to send him home following the challenge of creating a traditional French dessert of Mille Feuille.
Michael said: “It’s been a pleasure to be here. I was quite sure I was going out to tell you the truth – I wasn’t at all happy with how things went with the recipe. It’s been one hell of an experience for someone young like me.
“I did feel a little under pressure – because I’m in catering college and this is what I want to do more than anything else.”
Presenter Ffion Dafis asked, “Do you think that in the end you’re going to achieve that dream of running a restaurant?”
“I hope it will,” answered Michael. “I think this has helped, because this is my dream, I don’t want to do anything else. I hope I can travel the world with my cooking.”
Dudley added: “Michael John made an impression on everyone, including myself – I enjoyed his company immensely. Perhaps his lack of experience let him down in Provence, but the ‘posh Sunday lunch’ he cooked for us at Llandrillo College was one of the best I’ve ever tasted.”
