At any one time across Wales, enthusiastic committees are busy preparing for an event in their local area, be it a concert, a celebration, a charity event or a weekend festival. They are all events that a community looks forward to, and attend in numbers.
In the new series Cyngerdd, S4C is going out and about to see what's going on in your local communities. We'll get a taste of some of the performances on stage and follow the team behind the scenes to learn more about the event.
This week, we'll bring a taste of two events. Taran Tudweiliog festival on the Llŷn Peninsula comes from north Wales, and in the south, a charity concert held by the Lleisiau'r Llan choir in Llangennech, near Llanelli, will be the focus.
Sioned Jones is one of the organisers of Taran Tudewiliog, and the S4C cameras followed her during the entire weekend, from when the marquee went up to the final performance of the festival.
"It's great that S4C came to film the festival and I'm looking forward to watching the programme, although I hate seeing myself on screen!" says Sioned.
"This was the first time we've the festival, and it was a huge success with over 600 people at the Saturday night gig. The profit will be put back into the community and we've already met to discuss next year's event."
Over in Llangennech, Cyngerdd will be at one of the several charity fundraising concerts that the Lleisiau'r Llan choir arrange annually, and this one was for the Breast Cancer Unit at Llanelli Prince Phillip Hospital, for which the choir has already raised over £80,000. The compère was newsreader Huw Edwards, who was brought up in Llangennech.
