Top news broadcaster Huw Edwards will reveal the more mischievous, humorous side of his character in an S4C show which looks back at the events of 2011.
Huw Edwards is known as one of the BBC's main newscasters - but on the Huw Edwards show on Friday, 30 December he'll be taking a light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek look back at the year.
Fittingly, he'll be presenting the show from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's Dora Stoutzker's concert hall in Cardiff - which opened earlier this year.
Huw Edwards will be accompanied on stage by three special guests - DJ and presenter Huw Stephens, BBC Wales Political Editor Betsan Powys, and former international rugby player Gareth Edwards.
Members of the audience will also be contributing as Huw presents the year's highs and lows on a big screen at the Dora Stoutzker concert hall.
The broadcaster - who lives in London but was brought up in Llangennech near Llanelli and whose father was the late historian and broadcaster Hywel Teifi Edwards - is looking forward to presenting the show in Welsh on S4C.
"2011 was a big year for me, and one of the highlights was broadcasting to 20 million people during the Royal Wedding," says Huw Edwards.
"I'm looking forward to hearing other people's highlights, and what sort of year they had in 2011. There were so many important events throughout this year, in Wales and across the world; it's worth reminding ourselves of the momentous milestones during 2011."
As well as the Royal Wedding, the show will look at a variety of major and less important events in 2011. They will look at the economic calamities in Europe …. but also remind us of how a house in Swansea became famous because of its resemblance to Adolf Hitler! They will see how Wales's Rugby World Cup campaign went off the rails and remember how Joe Purcell tried to take his horse on to a train at Wrexham railway station.
"Although there are some dark clouds on the horizon for the economy and the Euro currency, I hope we'll bring a smile to everybody's face as we look back on 2011 and also look forward to 2012," explains Huw.
"People are used to seeing me reading the news every night, but I'm looking forward to having a bit of fun with the big and not so big stories which grabbed the headlines over the past twelve months."
