The Royal Wedding – programmes to celebrate the historic occasion

The UK is about to witness one of the biggest, most celebrated events in the Royal Family's history as Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot in the 'Wedding of the Year'.

All eyes will be on Westminster Abbey in London on the morning of 29 April and viewers can enjoy the historic occasion in Welsh, live on S4C.

Rhun ap Iowerth leads S4C's coverage of the Royal Wedding in London and Nia Tudur, Elis Roberts, Elen Wyn and Gwenfair Griffith report on the buzz and excitement of the occasion from various locations around London. Aled Huw and Nêst Williams will lead us through the service itself.

But this is not the only programme on S4C to mark the occasion. On the eve of the wedding S4C has gained exclusive access to a very special event, and you're invited to join in the excitement.

In the one-off programme Wil a Cêt, we follow three couples as they compete to win a very special prize. They all share the same names as the Royal couple and live on Anglesey. Our Wils and Cêts battle for an exclusive opportunity to attend a Royal Wedding celebration and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the well-known Anglesey residents.

This light-hearted programme will find out which couple knows their curtseys from their corgis and their wax jackets from their Windsors.

A special edition of the news programme for young people, Ffeil, will also broadcast live from London on Thursday. Catrin Heledd reports live from Buckingham Palace as she takes a look at the final preparations ahead of the wedding and finds out what youngsters in Wales think of the celebrations.

Wedi 3 and Wedi 7 will also feature wedding items throughout the week. Fashion expert Huw Rees takes a look at the wedding dress and the guests' fashion faux pas on the day; harpist Claire Jones prepares for her performance at the wedding with a live preview on S4C; and our cameras follow Reverend Gareth Morgan Jones from Pontardawe who will be attending the wedding. And as the eyes of the world prepare to watch the wedding in London, Wedi 7 follows a couple from Cwm Gwendraeth as they get married on the same day.
