Presenter and comedian Beth Angell embarks on an unforgettable journey across India. She visits the Khasia Hills in the north east of the country where her grandfather was a Christian missionary with the Methodist Calvinists and where her father was brought up until the age of ten.

"I have a personal interest in the history of the country, I used to keep my hockey stick in an elephant's foot, a present my grandfather brought back to Wales after 30 years as a missionary in India. My father's childhood memories were also all about monkeys and tigers and not cats and dogs.

"I'd always wanted to visit India. It was a truly exciting challenge to be part of a documentary series about a country that is facing a period of momentous change. It was fascinating to see who benefits and who loses out as a result of this change."

"It is sometimes difficult to believe that India could be the next superpower when there is so much heart-breaking poverty and so many starving people on the streets. It is such a vast country that it's not easy to see how they can pool all their resources to improve the quality of life of everyone in the country."

"You also get a strong feeling of hope and anticipation in the country. I met some incredible people who are working to make India a success for all the population and to build solid foundations for the future."

The colourful and thought-provoking four-part series opens with the emotional experience of visiting Beth's father's first home, which these days houses offices for the chapel next door. She then visits cities, towns and villages in the world's seventh largest country, which covers three million square kilometres of land and is home to more than one billion people.
