Where better to complete the 25,000km journey around the equator than in Gabon - where they drink more champagne per head than anywhere else in the world, and the paradise island of Sao Tomé - the home of world famous chocolate. But the journey wasn't as enjoyable as expected...
After landing in Libreville the crew realised that the camera had broken! When a new camera arrived, the batteries didn't work and then the car broke down. Bethan and the crew were then nearly arrested when the cameraman bought a turtle in the market. And then it was clear that they wouldn't be able to go to Sao Tomé after all.
Despite the problems, Bethan met some interesting local tribes like the Nganga in Mondah forest - a woman who uses a mixture of unique forest plants to heal illnesses of all kinds and the inspirational radio station crew from 'Radio Emergence' - a voluntary station run by young people that deals with young people's problems like AIDS and HIV - Bethan was very nervous about her live interview but her French was astonishing! The highlight of the journey was joining the 'Fang' crew - an ancient tribe in the village Mbeng Ntame, and watching them dance under the influence of the illusory drink 'Iboga'.
