Catrin Webster, originally of Cardiff but now living in Aberystwyth, has interpreted the sea from the shore, using a mobile studio – her very own van – to hold up her canvas. Intriguingly, she uses only black and white oils to interpret the colourful sea.
Catrin says, “The spirit of the sea is ingrained in me, as I live by the sea. I go out to sea every day. I can’t live without it. There’s a sense of danger in the sea and I want these dangerous elements in my art. When I’m at sea, I know what Harris’ picture conveys and can feel his ship rocking. I hope to interpret this force and power in his work through my interpretation of the sea.”
Catrin’s new works will be exhibited to the public as part of a travelling art exhibition.
