Rob Piercy

Rob Piercy was born and brought up in Porthmadog. He trained as an art teacher and taught for 15 years before leaving teaching to concentrate on his painting.

Rob, like Gastineau, specialises in watercolour, particularly seascapes and the landscapes of Snowdonia. Rob, who won the Welsh Artist of the Year award in 2002, lives and works in the area. He goes on location for inspiration and finishes his paintings at his Porthmadog studio.

Rob says, “I was climbing rocks before I ever started painting. By rock climbing and mountaineering, I’ve come to know something about rocky terrain. The years of climbing have borne fruit for me now as an artist and I love portraying rocky coastlines, such as this one, in my work.”

Rob’s new works will be exhibited to the public as part of a travelling art exhibition.
