2010 Competition
Pob Siawns
Composer: Lowri Evans a Lee Mason
Lowri spent six years living, studying and performing in Newcastle upon Tyne, during which time she recorded two albums with her own band called Stella.
Lowri's influences are many and varied, from bluesmen Eric Bibb and John Mayer to jazz diva Nina Simone and country star Sheryl Crow. She has earned herself a substantial profile on the music scene in Wales, performing regularly in venues across the country. Lowri also often makes appearances on television and radio.
Lowri and sound engineer/guitarist Lee Mason first worked together in 2005 producing their first EP. Since then, the duo have honed their performing and producing partnership to mesh with their own particular brand of music. Lowri has released 5 albums in the last 4 years.
As the title suggests, their song advocates seizing every opportunity that life has to offer. Lowri freely admits that Pob Siawns was a last-minute composition but claims that composing under pressure can often give a song more life and spontaneity.
Winning the competition would mean everything to Lowri and Lee, particularly as they narrowly missed the number one spot in 2008 when they came second.
