Bandit yn Gigio

Bandit returns with a new look series

Huw Evans and Huw Stephens will present the programme from the Bandit yn Gigio stage at a series of six special events held in locations all over Wales. They begin in Hendre Hall, near Bangor, where we'll have live music performances by Colorama, Violas and Cloud4mations.

Each programme delivers a burst of live music by some of the most exciting bands and artists in Wales, along with a review of the latest news and gossip from the Welsh Music Scene - the bands, events and locations. The first episode will feature a report on the winners of this year's Selar magazine awards, and a profile of Violas.

The locations

From Hendre Hall the Bandit yn Gigio tour will take us to the Rhyng-golegol (Inter-college) Eisteddfod in Cardiff, The Trinity St Davids Students Union in Carmarthen, Central Station in Wrexham, Pantycelyn Student Hall in Aberystwyth and Cell in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Three artists will take to the stage in each event and among them are Yr Ods, Race Horses, Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, Mr Huw, Masters in France, Plyci, and Jen Jeiro.

Presenter Huw Stephens has enjoyed visiting the various locations whilst filming Bandit yn Gigio.

"Hendre Hall is a brilliant location and seeing Colorama perform there was a special experience," says Huw Stephens, who is also a presenter on BBC Radio 1.

"The Rhyng-gol is also always a good night. It brings Welsh students together to make one huge party and the Rhyng-gol gigs are always unforgettable. The bands playing this year were brilliant!"

Bandit yn Gigio returns for a special episode from the Wrexham and District National Eisteddfod in August 2011.
