Carolau Gobaith

Carolau Gobaith

Two of Wales's most famous singers will do battle this Christmas as they put their singing, teaching abilities and patience to the test in a unique festive challenge - all in the name of charity.

Shân Cothi and Rhys Meirion go head-to-head in the three-part series Carolau Gobaith as they mentor and duet with three Welsh celebrities each, to perform a well-known Christmas carol in a concert broadcast on S4C.

Caerdydd and Gari Tryfan actor Huw Rees, children's television presenter Leni Hatcher and author and Byw yn yr Ardd host Bethan Gwanas are the three famous faces on Shân's team. Rhys has the task of teaching rugby referee Nigel Owens, comedian Tudur Owen and actress Siw Hughes, best known for her iconic portrayal of Kath Jones in S4C's daily drama series, Pobol y Cwm.

Viewers will follow the progress of the six singing students and their mission to raise money for Tŷ Gobaith ac Amser Justin Time. The Tŷ Gobaith hospice - with centres in Oswestry and Conwy - offers support to families with children suffering from terminal illnesses. Shân herself founded the Amser Justin Time charity in memory of her late husband, Justin Smith, who died of pancreatic cancer.

In the opening episode, the teams will undergo an intensive team-building exercise at an outdoor centre in the Brecon Beacons before having to sing for the first time in front of the panel - a daunting and emotional task for some.
