Enjoy a concert of old Welsh classics in the company of two of Wales' most talented singers - tenor Rhys Meirion and young soprano Rhian Lois.
The programme Cyngerdd Rhys Meirion a Rhian Lois, is a mix of popular solo pieces and duets, accompanied by the Welsh Chamber Orchestra led by Alwyn Humphreys. Among the songs are 'Arafa Don', 'Huna Blentyn', 'Hywel a Blodwen' and 'Unwaith eto Nghymru Annwyl'.
This concert at Pafiliwn Bont, Pontrhydfendigaid, was the first time for Rhys and Rhian to perform together and Rhian would be more than happy to do so again.
"We had a lot of fun backstage, and since we were on my home patch of Ceredigion, Rhys had to be careful what he said! It meant a lot for me to see so many familiar faces in the audience. The people of Ceredigion have always been very supportive and it was nice to be able to give something back," adds Rhian who was brought up in Pontrhydygroes, only a few miles from Pontrhydfendigaid.
The 24 year old singer is about to finish her schooling at the Royal College of Music in London. She has a very busy time ahead of her since in September she will make her début with the English National Opera.
As the Urdd Eisteddfod kicks off in Swansea, Rhian emphasises how much she benefited from competing at the Urdd. She was just eight years old when she first won at the Urdd, and in 2008 she was awarded the Bryn Terfel Scholarship.
