One of Wales' best-loved stars, Bryn Terfel, will sing some of his favourite carols and Christmas songs in the company of some very talented performers.
Sharing the stage with Bryn will be Caryl Parry Jones, Catrin Finch, Gwawr Edwards, Côrdydd, Nidus Children's Choir, John Ogwen, and this year's winner of the prestigious Bryn Terfel Scholarship, the young tenor from Llandudno, Elgan Llŷr Thomas.
Elgan Llŷr Thomas will be singing a duet with Bryn, a carol from Mexico, El Nacimiento.
"I'm really looking forward to singing with Bryn," says Elgan. "I do feel nervous, especially since I haven't sung in Spanish before, but it will be a great experience. This is the first oppportunity I've had to sing with Bryn as a soloist, but I was a member of the choir that sang with him on his Bad Boys tour. He's a lovely person. He works hard and was very kind to the choir and everyone on the tour."
Christmas means home for Bryn Terfel as well. "For me, all roads at Christmas lead to home with a constant gathering of family and friends and sing-alongs of contrasting musical styles," he says. "That's why it means so much to me that we are able to record this Christmas Special in North Wales in front of a local audience, with a line-up of Welsh guests accompanied by Sinfonia Cymru. I look forward to bringing a sprinkling of a truly traditional Welsh Christmas, full of festive cheer, into your living room.
"2010 has been one of my busiest years ever. So, I'm going to turn my iphone off, put my feet up, and enjoy Christmas and New Year with my family. With a bit of luck, we'll have some snow, and I'll be able to have snowball fights with my boys!"
