Visitors to the National Eisteddfod in Bala this summer were treated to a wealth of evening performances and there will be an opportunity to enjoy highlights from two of the concerts with BBC Cymru Wales on S4C this Christmas.
Tickets for the star-studded Cyngerdd Sêr yr Eisteddfod were sold out three months before Only Men Aloud, Côr Glanaethwy, soprano Gwawr Edwards and Rhydian even took to the stage.
Tim Rhys-Evans, Only Men Aloud's energetic conductor, was very glad to introduce the choir's new Welsh language repertoire on the Eisteddfod stage.
"This was the first time that we'd performed Blaen Wern and Men of Harlech and they were given a fantastic reception. There's a lot of choreography which incorporates traditional Welsh dancing so we have a lot of fun," he says.
Sharing a stage with them were the young choir from Bangor which finished as runner up to Only Men Aloud in the BBC's Last Choir Standing competition.
"It was a pleasure to perform alongside Côr Glanaethwy instead of competing against them as Cefin and Rhian Roberts are good friends of mine," explains Tim.
"Rhydian is also a fantastic artist as well as being a lovely, down-to-earth boy and I've enjoyed working with him on many other occasions."
Tim wasn't familiar with Gwawr Edwards, who was born in Aberystwyth, but she certainly made a lasting impression on him that evening.
"I was so blown away by her performance that I asked her to join Only Men Aloud on our Christmas tour. Luckily for me she agreed to come with us."
