Gourmet Fair, Saint - Raphael, Var, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Oysters, champagne, foie gras, cheese, and chocolate - here are a few things to tempt you to this amazing fair in the Var region of provence. There will be around 110 exhibitors all with their produce for you to taste. Pinc Garlic Fair, Lautrec

First Friday every August

The whole village prepares a large cauldron of garlic soup made with the famous pink garlic l'ail rose. There are garlic markets and a competition to create a 'manouille', which is a long chain of garlic. Entry is free and it starts at 8.30am until 8pm. www.ailrosedelautrec.com

Loures-Barousse Cheese Festival

First Saturday every August

Pig Festival, La Pourcailhade, Trie-sur-Baise

2nd Sunday every August

For everyone that loves pigs! The Trie-sur-Baise area is one of the largest places to breed pigs and it is the only place that has a traditional market to sell them. Tasting, competition and races is all at Trie-sur-Baise. The highlight of the festival is the competition to mimic a pig - honest it is a serious competition!! Open 11am until 12pm.

Chestnut and Cider Festival, Sauveterre-de-Rouergue, Midi-Pyrenees

Sarmentelles - Beaujolais Nouveau, Beaujeu, Rhone - Alpes

3rd Wednesday every November

The first wine of the year is released at twelve o clock on the third Wednesday in November at the capital of the Beaujolais territory - Beaujeu en Ligne. Experts for round the world look forward immensely to this day and parties and celebrations are held in bars and restaurants all over the world! But it is where Beaujolaise was born that you can see the best celebrations. At Beauleu there is an enormous party called Sarmentelles, which leads up to twelve o clock - what a party it is! According to folklore you should drink Beaujolais Nouveau wine before Christmas, which will give you enough excuse to drink it dry!
