Markets

In most European countries, open markets are thriving and they are a wonderful place for visitors and local people to visit, and it is true to say that Provence markets are among the best.

As a visitor, it is a chance to integrate into the village life and is an excellent opportunity to shop and bring a community together every week. Markets are full of stalls with collections of fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers, fresh fish and meats, breads, cheeses, olives, honey, spices and wines.

In June you can see sellers selling cherries and apricots, usually straight out of the back of the truck - now that's fresh! Some of the sellers can be very particular and you should not touch or press the produce, it is the seller that handles the goods and makes the choice for you - this is a typical custom in the best markets.

In addition to all the fresh produce at the market you may also find a vast amount of Provencal materials, soaps, pictures by local artist and lavender.
