With an exciting season of club rugby drawing to a close, the S4C pundits reveal who they would crown as the best Welsh player of the season.
Shane Williams
He's so elusive and adventurous and he wants to take responsibility all the time, which is a rare quality for a winger. But Ryan Jones comes very close, certainly playing a starring role among the pack. I have to praise his performance and leadership on the pitch.
Shane Williams
Without a doubt. He was the star of the Six Nations' Championship this year by scoring six tries in five games. The winger created history by breaking Gareth Thomas' try-scoring record for Wales.
Shane Williams
He has been excellent playing for Wales this season. His contribution to the Grand Slam winning squad was fantastic. And Lee Byrne has cemented his place as the first choice Wales full-back with his new found confidence.
Shane Williams
Purely for the reason that he scored six tries in this year’s Six Nations' Championship. He provides inspiration in almost every match and he's always ready to try the unexpected. Shane, more than anyone else, can excite the crowd when he’s got the ball.
Alun-Wyn Jones
The lock has improved and matured in every game he's played. He's an old head on young shoulders and offers something different to the majority of players. He's young enough to develop his talents and learn new skills. I can definitely see Alun-Wyn as a future Welsh captain.
Lee Byrne
The star of the show. He has become a very confident full-back. Ryan Jones has also led by example in his new role as Welsh captain and Shane's contribution has been immense.
The decision to choose Ryan Jones as captain was very sensible in my opinion because he didn't carry the baggage of the disappointing World Cup as he was injured at the time. Shane Williams also made an impression, but I think Deiniol Jones, even though he didn't feature much for Wales, deserved his place as part of the squad because of his consistency playing for the Blues over the past two seasons.
