The biggest priority against Australia is possession. The Wallabies are a team that builds rhythm by going through phases. The way to prevent that is to deny them possession. So, instead of the kicking game, Wales should employ the running game. Even from relatively deep areas the idea should be to attack the drift defence, get over the gain line and get some momentum.
Australia are beatable. They do not have the same psychological hold over us than the other two Southern Hemisphere giants. I believe that Wales will put two halves of sustained pressure and quality play together that will be simply too much for the Wallabies. But it will be close. I predict a Welsh win by 3 points and that will be some evidence that the gap is getting a little smaller between Wales and the Tri-Nations sides.
