Mixed Magners results and a World Cup Sevens Victory!

Yes, I'm back in the dodgy Internet caff in Cardiff centre again to look at the weekend's events. I'm starting to get used to the falling out, the drunken men and the keyboard with most of the keys missing.

I've had a very enjoyable weekend, mainly due to the fact that I spent it on my backside watching loads of sport. Me and one of the boys decided at the last minute to put a bet on Chopra scoring first for Cardiff City. We heard he was on the bench and thought we'd wasted our money, but 5 minutes before kick-off, someone was injured in the warm-up and Chopra was on. We won 30 quid each - my throat's still sore from screaming when he scored!!

Well, the weekend's flown by once again! No Six Nations matches, but plenty of Magners Cup action. It's clear that the Ospreys are missing their international players as they lost a home game to an Irish side once again. The Ospreys were playing without 16 international players so it was difficult for the home side. Leinster had a strong side, with players like Gordon Darcy, Shane Horgan and Contemporize playing. The Welsh region played well in the first half, but Leinster's experience showed in the end, although the Ospreys won a point, which could be crucial when the season end approaches.

The Dragons lost too, against Munster, score: 20-19. It was a fiery game at times, but at the same time, the spark was soaked by the rain that poured down on Rodney Parade, interrupting the flow of play. It was another game where the Dragons showed a lot of heart, but didn't take advantage of that and, in the end, they lost.

It was a different story for the Blues, Wales' best region so far this season in my opinion. They won away to Connacht, with Robin Sowden Taylor scoring late on in the game. It's a shame for Wales that Martyn Williams and Sowden Taylor play in the same region. I'd like to see Sowden Taylor move to a different region to get consistent match play - this would be good for Wales and for Sowden Taylor's professional development.

Llanelli won too down at Stradey Park, but I must admit, I fell asleep halfway through the second half! It was not a good game at all, but Llanelli won, which is the important thing.

Did you see Wales' Sevens side beating Argentina to win the World Cup in Dubai?? It's great to see the team doing well, especially when you think that young players like James Hook came up through the Sevens game when they were learning their game. I'm sure winning the World Cup will bring some more money into the team, providing the perfect platform for young Welsh players to get some experience in playing the Welsh way - attractive, fast-paced ruby.

I'm off home now to have a beer and watch a film before going back to work for another week. It's Italy next weekend, bois bach, and if I'm being honest, I'm a bit nervous, especially seeing all the changes. Speak to you before the game!!!
