Team news reaction - Huw Llywelyn Davies

"I certainly wasn't expecting to see as many changes in the starting line-up because Warren Gatland's consistency in his selection has been prominent since he became Welsh coach. The coach has now decided to change direction completely. But this is not a reaction to the loss out in Paris - he made it clear before the French game that he planned to make some changes.
"Italy have a strong pack and this is the area where the squad is traditionally at its strongest. Gatland has included three out of five in the pack who haven't had that much experience on the international level in Yapp, Charteris and Rhys Thomas. So it will be interesting to see how our forwards cope with the Italian scrum.
"Among the backs, it's clear that Gatland is looking to play the creative ball. Peel, in my opinion, offers the quicker ball than Phillips and is one of the reasons behind the change. Other changes include the re-introduction of Hook and Henson - two who are very skilful with the ball in their hands. Realistically, Wales need to aim for a win of at least 30 points against Italy to have any chance of winning the championship on the final weekend.
"One significant decision for me is the decision to hand Alun Wyn Jones the captaincy. Is this a sign for the future? He's young, experienced and is respected - both on and off the rugby field. Whilst speaking with Gatland after the announcement, he said that he sees Alun Wyn as a future leader and captain for Wales. Who knows what effect this will have on Ryan Jones' future?
