Gareth Edwards
In the first programme of a new series, rugby legend Gareth Edwards shares his memories with Heledd Cynwal as he watches classic television moments from the past.
He recalls his childhood years in Gwaun Cae Gurwen where he practised his rugby skills on street corners. Interviews with local residents filmed in 1968 show the village's immense pride in their famous son as Gareth became the youngest ever captain of Wales at the age of 20.
Gareth explains the part his mother played in ensuring that he played rugby, rather than football for his country. The programme also includes nostalgic footage of the 1971 Lions Tour in New Zealand and Gareth's world famous try against the All Blacks in 1973.
