Tony ac Aloma
We celebrate the unique contribution and outstanding careers of popular duo Tony ac Aloma by devoting a night of programmes in honour of the pair.
The two have sung together for more than 45 years and the partnership between the pair has blossomed - but they've faced many challenges along the way.
Tony and Aloma recall their first meeting in Llanerchymedd when Tony was looking for singers to take part in a variety evening. At the time, Aloma was a fourteen year-old schoolgirl living with her grandparents. Even on that day, Tony acknowledged that "Aloma was a talented young woman".
In 1984, Tony and Aloma were reunited when the National Eisteddfod was held in Llangefni. They had barely spoken since 1976 but the spark was still there when they performed together. "There was a special chemistry between us at the start," explains Tony, "and it will still be there at the end!"
Today, Tony, Aloma and Roy live and work at the Gresham Hotel, Blackpool, where they hold regular variety evenings. Aloma says, "I think the partnership still works brilliantly and we have great nights and successful cabarets. The partnership continues to work extremely well - I tend to tell Tony and Roy what to do and they do it!"
Following Cofio gyda Tony ac Aloma on Friday 21 May, viewers can take a trip down memory lane as S4C presents special archive editions featuring Tony ac Aloma.
