Hogia'r Wyddfa remember in a special programme

Cofio (Remember) looks at the colourful musical career of one of Wales' most popular entertainment groups, Hogia'r Wyddfa.

Featuring rich archive material and interviews with the group members, viewers will get a vivid picture of exciting decades in the Welsh music scene through the eyes of a band who have been performing for 48 years.

In a programme full of emotion and passion, as well as reels of stage and screen performances, the lads from Llanberis, Snowdonia talk openly about the excitement and stress, the fun and worry of being in a popular band.

Popular songs

In the 1960s and 1970s, memorable numbers such as Safwn yn y Bwlch, Tylluanod, Titw Tomos Las, Aberdaron, Llanc Ifanc o Lŷn and Pentre Bach Llanber were constantly top of the Welsh-language charts.

They attracted large audiences to shows and concerts in venues as diverse as the Royal Albert Hall, Majestic, Caernarfon and village halls throughout Wales.

First formed in 1963, Arwel Jones, Myrddin Owen, Elwyn Wilson Jones (singers), Vivian Parry (guitar) and the late Richard Huw Morris (piano) became well-known names.

They are still performing today with accomplished piano accompanist Annette Bryn Parri, who is now a key member of the group.

Following the special edition of Cofio, there will be a further celebration of the group's career with two classic programmes from the S4C archives - Yng Nghwmni: Hogia'r Wyddfa and Noson Chis a Meinir.
