More commercial disasters and rules which stipulate that no alcohol is to be sold, nor profit worth over 10% made on any goods means that the CMC loses its power as a successful company - this has a negative effect on the members of the cooperative and leads to great hardship. Welsh loses its status as the language of business. By now, many parents see the language increasingly as a hindrance to their children.

There is more oppression in general against the Welsh language as the rightwing Republic, ruled by the military, bans any public display of support for the language, so the language becomes more of a private language, strong in the chapel and at the eisteddfod but not in public.
