1960's: The Argentine Methodist Church comes to the Chubut and helps establish the Chubut College, run by Luned Vychan de González, one of the institutions which has been pivotal in raising people's awareness of their own history.

1965: The centenary of the colony was celebrated, with important contributions by such figures as R. Bryn Williams, who won the 1964 National Eisteddfod in Wales with his poem 'Patagonia'. Young students from Patagonia go over to Wales to study, and there is an improvement in the status of the language.
