WALKING AND TALKING ... WELCOME TO CRWYDRO!
On a fine day there's nothing better than a long walk and the chance to have a good conversation out in the fresh air.
S4C's Crwydro, presented by Iolo Williams, turns the chat show format on its head, swaps the studio for the great outdoors and offers guests the chance to walk and talk in their favourite areas of Wales.
"Filming Crwydro is always a pleasure" declares Iolo, who lives in the village of Llandysul near Newtown with his wife Ceri and their two sons Dewi and Tomos. In addition to giving me the chance to walk in some of Wales' most beautiful areas, it introduces me to a wide range of people that I wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity to meet. Over the years I've walked in the company of politicians, journalists, actors, musicians, poets and other fascinating characters."
Iolo says that the guests themselves choose the route to walk, and that they relax more than they would in a face-to-face interview under the bright studio lights.
"The guests select a path which means something to them" says Iolo. "And as they are on familiar territory, they are readier to talk about every aspect of their lives - be it their family or upbringing, or their work and career."
The new series features a variety of locations and guests. These include a stroll with Elin Fflur on Anglesey, actor Mathew Rhys tours the Machynlleth area, producer and presenter Gaynor Davies explores the area around Capel Curig while Professor Gwyn Thomas recounts the myths and ancient tales of the countryside around Blaenau Ffestiniog.
