For one weekend each year, the tranquil village of Chwilog near Pwllheli comes out to play in a festival of music and events called Chwilgig.
This year S4C was at the heart of the action. Viewers can enjoy a taste of the event as Elin Fflur and Morgan Jones present highlights in Chwilgig: Digwyddiadau '10.
The festival was held over the Bank Holiday weekend and started with a concert at the Village Hall. Performing were tenor Trebor Edwards, Côr Dre from Caernarfon and local soloist Anni Llŷn.
On the following three nights, a series of gigs was held at the Madryn pub. Among the bands performing were Hufen Iâ Poeth, Meinir Gwilym, Meic Stevens a'r Band, Moniars, Derwyddon Dr Gonzo, Masters in France, Bryn Fôn a'r Band, Ail Symudiad, Gwibdaith Hen Frân and Dafydd Iwan a'r Band.
The Sunday was a day of fun for all the family, with a Chwilffactor talent competition for under 16-year-olds and music by Gwyneth Glyn. The highlight was the chairing of the 'Chwilfardd' bard, for a poem composed about Chwilgig.
Aled Davies, one of the festival's organisers said. "This is the festival's third year. It's organised by a group of five, but local support is priceless and a large group of volunteers is vital to making it happen.
"We wanted to organise something that would be an integral part of village life and give the local music scene a boost. We felt that such an event had been missing from the village for years and we were excited to have S4C filming this year."
Medwyn Parri, S4C's Head of Events and Event Television says, "S4C is proud to be part of Chwilgig this year. The festival has caught the imagination of the local people and has created an exciting music scene in the area."
