Gwledd Conwy: Digwyddiadau 09

Tasting the delights of Conwy

Presenters Mari Grug and Morgan Jones have wide smiles on their faces this week as they visit one of Wales' largest food festivals, Gwledd Conwy.

This is the sixth food festival to be held within the historic walled town of Conwy, but this year, for the first time, Conwy Castle plays a role, with many activities following a medieval theme being held there.

Stands and exhibitions

The event features over a hundred stands and exhibitors, with a variety of foods on offer, from Conwy's famous mussels to tasty cheeses and sweet delights. A number of leading chefs will be showing off their culinary skills, including Bryn Williams and Dudley Newbery, both of whom will be seen shortly in a new series of S4C's popular cookery competition, Tigh Dudley.

Mari and Morgan will be exploring all the stands, and we'll also have a peek behind the scenes at the preparations of some of the exhibitors.

Inspriation?

Will their visit to the Festival inspire them to create delicious dishes in their own kitchens?

"I enjoy being in the kitchen and always try to widen my cooking skills by experimenting with different recipes, but Gareth (my partner) does most of the cooking in our house and I do the washing up!" says Mari.

And Morgan adds, "I love cooking - I'm the boss in the kitchen at home. The highlight of every family kitchen, probably, is preparing Christmas dinner. I get great enjoyment from doing that, and start preparing weeks beforehand. The house is full of spicy seasonal aromas - heaven on earth, and I'm looking forward to it already!"
