The series

Who is the greenest of them all? In a brand new series for autumn, four comprehensive school pupils lead their families in a competition to find out. Nia Rossiter and Luke Smart go to school in Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun in Hirwaun in the Cynon Valley. Dafydd Francis and Gemma Starkey study at Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda in the Rhondda Valley.

To become series champions, they'll have to slash their carbon footprint by changing the way they live. And it's not just at home that they'll have to go green. Every week we'll be asking them to spread the Green word throughout the Valleys.

What's occurin'?

  • The series follows four families to see if they can change their lives and be more green.
  • Each week, one aspect of the families' lives will be assessed for environmental wrongdoing.
  • The families will face a weekly challenge depending on what they do which is good or bad for the environment.
  • Each week, all the families will get an eco-pack full of challenges, gadgets and advice to help them. There's a weekly prize for the winning family.
  • Iolo Williams will be a Green detective during the series, keeping an eagle eye on the families and encouraging – or giving forfeits – to anyone who's lagging behind. He'll also check if anyone's cheating!
  • Iolo will also have his own unique project during the series as well – creating a community woodland space for the Valleys, planted by the young people of the area.
  • At the end of the series, we'll find out which family will be eco-champions
