James – Acting and performing. A big Manchester United supporter.
Becky – Badminton and tennis.
Why did you decide to nominate your family to take part in the series?
James – We wanted to challenge the family to do something different. But I didn't expect the challenges would be so hard.
Who out of your family had the biggest trouble in their attempt to become healthier?
Becky – James. His diet wasn’t very good before the series, but he’s received a lot of support on how to improve his diet and follow a healthier lifestyle.
What was your favourite challenge?
James – the cooking challenge. During this challenge we had to cook a healthier version of a meal whilst beating the time it would take for the takeaway to arrive at our doorstep. I was surprised at how quick and easy it was to cook takeaway meals which were 100% healthier. Our meals were very tasty!
Which challenge proved most difficult?
Becky – walking up Pen-y-fan mountain. I didn’t expect it to be so difficult! But the team camaraderie between the families was very special and everyone was willing to help each other out with the challenge. Everyone was determined to complete the challenge – but it was the mothers who found it most difficult I think.
What advice would you pass on to a family who would like to follow your lead?
Take a look at what you eat and don’t over eat!
How has the process affected the family as a whole?
James – Before the series, our family didn’t exercise at all and we were over eating regularly. By now, we’ve cut down on the amount of food that we eat and we drink a lot more water. Personally, my skin has improved as a result and I’ve got a lot more energy.
What’s the next step for you?
James – I’m very confident that we can maintain our healthy diets and continue our new lifestyles after the cameras stop rolling. This process has brought us closer as a family and we have made plans to start playing badminton regularly as a family to keep our fitness levels high.
