Brychan Llŷr and Sara Hunter both adore one of Britain's most established labels.
Biker jackets were one of Barbour's earliest products, but they weren't made of leather, but rather of a strong material soaked in wax.
The Barbour family were farmers in Scotland originally, but then in 1894 John Barbour decided to diversify. He started producing clothes. From the beginning these practical coats were very successful. Over the years, Barbour have amended and added to the collection to ensure the label survives.

What do Barbour clothes mean to you?
To me, my Barbour jacket is not a fashion statement, but rather a practical investment. If you're out watching point-to-point races or out in a show, nearly everyone is wearing a Barbour jacket. To me, this jacket has two purposes, and that is to keep me dry and warm. It tickles me a bit that you've come here, as a fashion programme, to speak to me on the farm with my horses, but that's the life that I lead.
What do you know about the history of the company?
It's still a family business. It's Margaret, the daughter-in-law, that runs the place now. This bloke that I know that runs the pub opposite used to go out with her for a while and that's how I found out that it was possible to send your coat back to the company if it needed to be renewed. So, when this coat is worse for wear, I'll be crossing the road, pretending I'm there for a pint, and I'll ask the bloke 'Right, give me Margaret's number!' "
You've got a traditional Barbour coat, why are you so fond of your coat?
This type of jacket is called a Bushman, and I think that I'll have it for the rest of my life. There's a strap on the sleeve that you can pull tight when it's windy, as there's nothing worse than getting a draft up your sleeve. There are nice details on the pockets, so on a cold day when you're out watching the horse racing, you can stick your hands in your pockets and it feels really cosy! And it also saves some of the water from going into your pockets. The other interesting thing is that there are two holes in the pockets, so when you're in the rain, the water runs from your pockets so that your matches and lighter don't get wet!
Barbour jackets have an unique smell haven't they, it's quite similar to the smell of horses!
Over the years if you rub against the horse and the horse is quite sweaty, it builds up on the coat. And over time it starts to shine. This one hasn't started shining yet because I try not to get it too dirty, but come back in about fifteen years and it'll be shining like a new coin!
Why do you think Barbour jackets are so popular?
Possibly because the Queen wears one, there's a bit of snobbery connected with owning a Barbour. I would guess that most farmers wear them because they're practical and not because they're iconic or a status symbol. I know other people that wear them because it puts them a few yards closer to the queen. To me personally, it's the second reason...to get me closer to the queen!
How important is your jacket to you?
With this sort of jacket, there's a story to tell, like the mark on the sleeve when I fell off my pony. The coat becomes more than just something that you wear, it becomes your friend!

Why do you think Barbour coats are still as popular as ever?
The fashion trend at the moment, across the world, is that a lot of people are looking at Britain and think that's the way that we dress. I think people respect the fact that Barbour is so British. It's practical and looks 'chic'.
Why are you so fond of your Barbour jacket?
I'm not a traditional person and I'm not a rural person. I don't need a practical jacket, I just want to look good. I've always liked biker jackets and the way that they look, so I thought this one was perfect, and the fact that it's Barbour. Since I've started wearing it I've found out that a lot of famous people have the same one. People have told me that Jo Whiley wore the same one presenting from Glastonbury last year, but to tell you the truth I wouldn't want to buy something just because of that, I wanted to buy it because I'd see it and liked what I saw.
Do you intend to buy another one?
I don't like the fact that they've got too fashionable. Saying that, they've got this lovely duffle coat at the moment called Patricia, an orange one, and I quite like it...next Christmas maybe!
