Carwyn John enjoys buying clothes that make him stand out from the crowd...
Carwyn: I like clothes that are a little bit different. I feel that anybody can buy, for example, a plain black shirt anywhere. I don't want to be seen wearing the same clothes as someone the same age as me in the same area. That's not going to happen if I go to shops like Vivienne Westwood for example.
Carwyn: This is a shirt by Gieves (young and funky branch of Gieves & Hawkes). He brings a limited edition shirt out ever summer producing only 150 - 200 of them. I've also another limited edition shirt by Gieves and Hawkes and there's only 50 of them around. The royal family shop there, so if it's good enough for them, it's certainly good enough for me!
Carwyn: I'll go to Alcatraz in Pwllheli to buy a lot of my clothes. They'll phone me when they have new Nicole Fahri stock available for example or other names such as Ted Baker, Hugo Boss, Versace, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and so on.
Carwyn: When I look at someone, I'll always look at their shoes. I think that shoes tell you a lot about someone's personality.
Carwyn: These are Louis Vuitton shoes. I went there to buy some other shoes but I bought these. I've never worn them. The shop emphasised that they weren't everyday shoes because they have some kind of fur on them. I have a pair of Patrick Cox shoes that I've never worn either.
Nia: Do you not feel guilty that you're spending so much money on things that you never wear?
Carwyn: They're here ready for me to wear, I'm just waiting for the right occasion!
Nia: You spend a lot on clothes then?
Carwyn: I might go into a shop such as Hugo Boss and come out with three pairs of trousers and you can't really get away with less than about £600 in Boss.
Carwyn: This suit is a little unusual with the thick and thin stripes. I bought it for the Newport Eisteddfod to compete in a competition. It's my lucky suit because I won which was a big surprise to me.
Nia: Was it expensive?
Carwyn: It wasn't a cheap suit...well, to be honest it was very expensive!
Nia: I hope you don't think of me as cheeky if I ask you how can you afford all these expensive clothes?
Carwyn: I think it's because I live at home at the moment and don't have to pay a mortgage. But, when I'll come to buying a house, I think I'll have just one wardrobe of nice clothes.
