As International Relations Director and model for London-based Japanese designer Michiko Koshino, Elle lives and breathes fashion from the moment he gets up at about 7am to the moment he falls into bed at 2 or 3 in the morning following a launch party or fashion show.
Nia: So, you work with the designer Michiko Koshino. Describe your work
Elle: I give the company direction. I look after the main line collection and other collections. If Michiko travels, I have to go with her too. A lot of people just see fashion in magazines or see it on television, but the fashion industry is extremely hard work. Sometimes, you have to get up at five in the morning and you could be out until four the next morning. There's a lot of travelling too.
There's a lot of parties, probably three or four every night and you can't make it to every party so it's important that we ensure that we choose the best one to go to. Sometimes, there are a lot of magazine parties during the week. We have to ensure that we choose the right magazine that promotes our collections.
If a celebrity wears our clothes for a party, we ensure that we are there. Orlando Bloom wears our clothes. The Gallagher brothers also, as well as Meg Mathews, Kate Moss and Jodie Kidd. They come to me to ask if they can have some clothes or they just go to directly to one of our shops to buy.
Nia: What's the story with these trousers/skirt?
What exactly is the outfit?
Elle: This is a work of art! A pair of trousers with a kilt on top. You just wear them just as you would a pair of jeans but wit hthe addition of a skirt on the outside.
Nia: What about the 'drafty trousers'?
Elle: Michiko designed them five years ago but it's only now that they are in the shops. They are for men and women. You have to wear them quite low with the legs in some boots. They are quite difficult to walk in so if you want to go out in them, you need to ask someone to take you and pick you up at the end of the night!
Nia: How about this biker style jacket?
Elle: I bought this red jacket about two years ago for £20 from Portobello Market. Bargain!
Nia: One thing I've noticed is that you don't have many clothes in your wardrobe? Do you throw things out so that you only keep up-to-the-minute pieces?
Elle: At the moment, because I work for Michiko Koshino, I make sure that I only wear Michiko Koshino. I had to throw a lot of my old clothes out. I had to give them to Oxfam. If I need more clothes, I just go to the shop and choose what I want - just choose and never have to pay for any of them!
Nia: How about this glitzy top?
Elle: This was a present from the fashion designer, Alexander McQueen. I wore the top for one of his shows about five years ago. I've never worn it since.
Elle on clothes...
I don't particularly have any style icons and I can't think of anyone I'd like to copy. I'd describe my style as completely unique.
