How do you think someone who passes you in the street would describe your style?

They would probably say chic or shabby chic. As long as the word chic was mentioned I’d be happy. I’m a professional actor and sing in a band called ‘Clinigol’. I think you come to a certain point when you’re brave enough to be able to just pick something up and wear them stylishly without even thinking about it.

What’s the largest amount you’ve spent in one shopping trip?

Probably around £1,500 in one shop. I had four people packing the clothes for me and I’m sure that they were all wandering, “who’s he?”

Do you wear anything from the high street and that isn’t by a designer?

Not really. I know that if I buy from a designer that no one else will be wearing it. I like the idea of wearing something unique. I bought this just before Christmas when I went shopping with some friends. They all told me that I shouldn’t buy a cardigan, but the moment I tried it on they all said it looked cool. I’ve always said that being fashionable is not about wearing fashionable clothes, but it’s about having the eye to wear clothes the right way. So I wear this cardigan on a bit of a skew with a t–shirt underneath. These are my favourite pair of jeans. I think they represent what sort of person I am. They’re a little distressed and they’re the most expensive item of clothing I’ve bought. They were £300, but worth every penny.

How would you describe your style?

I think I’m fashion conscious. I pick things up subconsciously, like when I watch the television. I remember Justin Timberlake wearing really smart dinner trousers with a scruffy t-shirt and trainers at the Brits a few years ago. I didn’t think anything of it at the time apart from the fact that he looked cool. But a few days later I found myself buying dinner trousers! My style is changing now that I’m getting older, I don’t wear such crazy clothes now. When I look in my wardrobe I’m horrified by some of the clothes that I bought!

Where did you get this t-shirt from?

Before I turned 30 I went through this faze of being paranoid that I was getting old, and so I went out and bought t-shirts that would send a message out to everybody that I wasn’t bothered about turning 30. So I’ve got this one that says; “Youth by itself is not enough” and this one that says “I once was, like me you will be”. Just a little joke about turning 30!

Where did you get these jeans?

This is the most horrible thing I own. They have safetypins all the way down the front and back. I look at them now and I’m disgusted that I spent so much money on them. At the time they were really fashionable and I got lots of attention and comments when I wore them, but now I can’t believe that I had the guts to wear them. I hate them, I can’t even look at them, they’re horrible! The only reason I’ve kept them is because I spent so much on them in the first place, and who knows, they might come back into fashion again!

Have you ever found yourself wearing the same clothes as somebody else?

Never, but sometimes when I watch tv I spot the same clothes that I have in things like pop videos. I’m always pleased with myself when that happens. I’m lucky as there’s nothing wrong with my body. I can wear tight jeans and t-shirts. I hardly try clothes on in the shop as I know what fits my shape.

How would you feel if someone trendy told you that they didn’t like your outfit?

That would never happen to me – never!
