How would you describe your style?

I think that I have quite a happy nature and that my clothes reflect that – bright with colours everywhere! I have my own style but I also follow fashion, I can’t help myself because I like it so much, its so interesting.

What influences the way you dress?

It’s harder to dress differently in a rural area, there isn’t as much available to you and you also don’t get to see as many different trends. Over the years I’ve started to care less and less about what others think and wear whatever I want. I enjoy putting different outfits together, like wearing a dress as a skirt or a top as a dress. Sometimes I’ll wrap or tie things in a different way.

You also create your own fashion don’t you?

I make jewellery and pumps. I buy the pumps plain and then put my own design on them by applying patterns and I also make my own clothes. I’m a big fan of patterns because I think they look great on plain clothes. When I make my jewellery, patterns help me to put them together by creating interesting shapes. I sell them in a market in Cathays. It’s nice to be able to sell things in Cardiff as there aren’t many places here where you can buy unique things.

Where did you get these t-shirts?

I bought this green t-shirt when I went to Brisbane. I like it because I have this thing about triangles! I then wanted to make my own t-shirts and this blue one was the first one I made. Saying that I print my own t-shirts sounds a bit too impressive because all I do is cut a potato into the shape of a triangle and stamp it with fabric paint and sew my own label on the inside.

These leggings are fantastic and so colourful!

I like these because of their geometric design. I wanted something different to go with a green dress I’d bought and a friend’s market stall to go to a party. She had this dress on the stall and her mother told her, “you’ll never sell that –whatever you get for it, I’ll give you the same!” I paid about £7 for it and I think it’s fantastic!

This dress is lovely, where did you get it?

This is my grandmothers’ old dress that I rescued from the bin. I like it because of the colour and also it fits me perfectly. It’s also very much in fashion now as well because it looks very nautical and when I wear it I get quite sentimental.

Given that you work on a market, do you also shop at markets as well?

Yes, it’s the best place to find different things that nobody else has. This cardigan comes from San Francisco. I bought it at a huge warehouse that was full of all kinds of clothes- rails after rails of old clothes, I think most of them were antiques they were so old!

Does your style change from one day to the next?

I find it hard to define my style because it’s constantly changing. One day I’ll be wearing something new that nobody’s ever seen before, something bright and colourful and the next day I’ll be wearing all black!
