What made you choose your style?

I don't believe that I dress for my work, this is how I would dress anyway, and I like to be smartly dressed. Some of the children tell me that I look cool, but being fifty isn't cool, so I often think they say it to please me!

What kind of clothes do you own?

All kinds. I wear all of my clothes; I think that's important, that you wear them. I like them. I like to wear suits and blazers with colour. People think that I'm worth millions, but I'm not, I spend it all! After I come home from shopping and I feel like I've spent too much, I try them on and just know that I'll wear them.

Where did you get this jacket?

I love leather jackets, but this one's my favorite. I went to America in 1990, and I saw this in the window and thought to myself, 'I have to bring that home to Wales with me'. While I was there I also bought these colourful brogues, and when I wear them to school the children stare at them.

How do you choose your style?

On Sundays I get up early and go for a walk. As I walk I'll think about what I'm going to wear that week and what I need to prepare. I don't have time to prepare before school in the morning, so I have to decide beforehand. Then I'll iron everything, choose which tie to wear and polish my shoes.

Who irons your clothes for you?

Nobody but me. Mum used to iron my shirts before I had the guts to tell her that she ironed the collar incorrectly! She told me to do it myself, and so I've done all my ironing since I was fourteen. After I wash the shirts I'll iron them and then I'll iron them again before I wear them. I have to iron every shirt twice!

What's the story behind this tie collection?

I have over a hundred ties now; some have cost me £5 and others £60. I love shopping for ties. In the past, you had to wear a plain shirt with a patterned tie, but these days you can wear patterned ties with patterned shirts.

What do clothes mean to you?

They're my friends. You choose carefully and pay for them, they're dear to you, they're with you through every emotion; happiness, sadness, and mean the world to you. They're a part of you. I get a buzz from buying clothes.
