Luned Tonderai on her style...

It's quite hard for me to describe my style; it's changed a lot over the years depending on different times in my life. But lately I've discovered that I'm not a little girl any more and am now a woman. I think my style is more sophisticated now which is quite exciting because it opens the door to a whole new range of clothes that I would never have dreamt about wearing before.

What's your style as a woman?

I wear a lot of dresses now which is something I would've never done before. And my style is certainly becoming more feminine as I get older. I never was a girly-girl or very feminine, I was always a little bit of a tomboy, but that's completely changed now.

Luned on clothes...

I've always loved clothes which is odd really because nobody in my family has any interest in them, especially my mum and dad. I was raised by my parents without any emphasis on the importance of clothes; they never focused on the material things in life. But, after saying that, I used to love shoes. When I went shopping with my mother I always wanted to go into shops to see and touch things, just to feel them.

In the wardrobe...

I have a mixture of things really. I have a lot of new clothes but also a lot of vintage ones, clothes that I've collected over the years. When I was a student in London I used to buy a lot of my clothes in markets and similar places. When I go traveling I love to buy clothes, old clothes really. I have this one dress that started me off on all the other dresses, the first one I bought. It was quiet expensive at the time and I was about eighteen, I remember buying it because before that I never really wore dresses or skirts, always trousers. I still wear this dress today and really love it.

Do the children love clothes?

Well yes, that's the problem, they love clothes, well, Lily does especially. She's her mother's daughter; she loves clothes and has a definite opinion. She knows exactly what she likes and what she wants and Lily would love me to look like a 'yummy-mummy' every day. She would love me to wear a dress with high heels, wear my hair down and not wear glasses every day. When she was younger and I would pick her up from school wearing jeans and a t-shirt, she would tell me, 'Oh! Mum, you should have worn a dress and high heels' So that's what she'd like, if I'd turn up at the school gates saying "darling".

What kind of clothes do you wear?

I like traditional clothes with a little twist, a little quirk or detail. Things like Paul Smith, Mathew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood; I'd love to be able to treat myself a little more now and again. I'll probably dress more sophisticated as I become more of a woman!
