Prys Jones, auctioneer from Abergele, enjoys his leisure time. It's no surprise, therefore, that his wardrobe is full of clothes appropriate for his work and leisure activities.
Nia: You’re quite renowned about your bright jumpers aren’t you?
Prys: Yes. Maybe I’m actually quite shy, originally. My jumpers give me some kind of confidence I think.
Nia: Does the fact that your jumpers are so bright and unique, mean that you like to stand out from the crowd by now?
Prys: Yes. I’m that type of man. If I walk into a room, without sounding too bigheaded, I want to take over the whole room. It’s important to me to be honest.
Nia: So your clothes are a way of changing that are they?
Prys: Yes. I feel that a lot of people know me. I try to keep to myself where I actually buy my clothes just in case somebody upstages me.
Nia: What’s the story behind this jumper?
Prys: This is the one I feel most comfortable in. When you look at it, it looks like it has lots of holes in it, and sometimes I look at it and actually start thinking about the hours of craft work that has gone into it. I can’t create anything myself except with my mouth, so I admire people that can actually do something with their hands. This one’s a good example of exceptional craftwork. I love this one.
I sound extremely bigheaded but there’s a kind of ‘class’ about these jumpers, they stand out.
Nia: What’s the story behind this jumper?
Prys: I’m very comfortable in it to begin with and it’s a very special one for me. This was the first colourful one I bought. I bought it in Harrogate and it was the first three figure jumper I bought which was over a hundred pounds.
Nia: And have they gone up in price ever since?
Prys: Yes, unfortunately, they have! I must be honest and say that the size has also gone up so the price has gone up too!
Nia: You have your golf jumpers too?
Prys: Yes. I don’t play as much golf as I used to. Most of them are sleeveless and they are extremely comfortable. And to me, they look very tidy too.
Nia: Casual-smart is your look then?
Prys: Yes, I’d like to think that. I’m unsure if people actually see me like that, but I feel as if I dress casual-smart.
Prys: I keep three or four jumpers in the car with me at all times just in case I need to change after a round of golf or if the weather changes.
Nia: On the golf course, it seems as if everybody has a kind of school uniform doesn’t it?!
Prys: Yes, but it’s important that one keeps the standard and that’s what’s important. You start with the shoes and socks which have to be the appropriate golf ones, then the trousers, jumper, shirt and hat. Some of the ladies, well, it’s like a fashion parade here!
Nia: A good excuse to buy more clothes then!?
Nia: What do you think the clothes in your wardrobe say about you?
Prys: They’re full of life, colourful and reflect my life.
