Wyn Lodwick is a sea-loving, clarinet-playing individual who lives near Llanelli. A jazz fanatic, he formed his first band whilst still very young, before giving it up to join the Navy.
It's obvious that jazz is the main love in your life, but when did you first realise this was the case?
It was when I was a young boy of about 14. I loved the sound of the music, the tone of the clarinet, so then I started my own band.
Do you remember what you wore?
Yes, dark trousers and a white shirt.
You had to wear very formal type of clothing after that didn't you, when you joined the Navy? For how long were you in the Navy?
Yes. We had to wear bell bottoms in the beginning, and then I became an officer and so had to change my uniform for a more formal outfit which included a cap. I was there for three and a half years.
You've met many famous people from all over the world, including Louis Armstrong. So what was he like?
Absolutely lovely. He was very smart. He was in evening dress, with a white shirt and a bow tie.
Wyn on his favourite hat...
I was best friends with Johnny Williams and Johnny's favourite hat has got a special place in my home. That hat went everywhere with him.
Do you still like wearing hats?
I do. I wear a hat all the time. I buy them from everywhere.
