Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men in the UK, responsible for about a quarter of all cancers. Unfortunately, it is also the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK, after lung cancer.
The most important risk factor for this kind of cancer is age and it is far more likely to develop after reaching 50 years old. The good news is that by now, 7 out of every 10 diagnoses result in men living beyond 5 years. It is a cancer that develops very slowly.
